Volunteers

The Richmond Therapeutic Equestrian Society relies on the dedicated volunteers who generously give their time to our program. Our volunteer Board of Directors help to provide a solid foundation for the program. Class Assistants are essential for providing the direct assistance that is required to support the riders and instructors in the classes and it is with the help of a volunteer physiotherapist that we assess children who are waiting to participate in the program. Additionally, families of program participants volunteer a little of their time to assist the Society in our fundraising efforts.

We have a very enthusiastic and dedicated group of volunteers. Lessons run during the week Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, as well as Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Please take a look at our calendar for the schedule of lessons. While horse experience is an asset, it is not a requirement. We will provide training. We are very proud to say that our volunteers have just as much fun as our riders in a setting which is both therapeutic and recreational. If ours sounds like a team you would like to join, please contact our volunteer co-ordinator at 604 241-7837 to arrange for an interview. Alternatively, you can download an application here, complete and return the form to us by mail and we will then contact you to arrange the interview once your application is received.

You will also need to download a volunteer release form .

The next session of lessons will start Monday September 26th, 2011 and will run until Monday December 5th. Volunteer Orientation/Training sessions are held several times per year. If you would like to know more or are interested in attending our next Volunteer Orientation/Training session, please contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator by e-mail or by telephone at 604 241-7837.

When arriving for your appointment drive close enough to the gates to activate the ground sensor that opens them.  If you have any difficulties with the gates, please call the office (604-241-7837) and RTES staff will assist you. Please do not force the gates open as damage will result.

This program would not be possible without our valuable volunteers.
